Mortality

The rate of patient deaths in a hospital is based on the actual number of deaths versus the expected number of deaths. Expected deaths are based on age, gender, and medical history. The mortality ratio is a result of observed mortality divided by expected mortality. The Central Region’s mortality ratio target is 0.82.
