Connecting to our Community

Once again, the Windham Hospital community outreach team was out in full force in 2016 to ensure that all of our neighbors have access to lifesaving health screenings and education.

Promoting Women’s Health

The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at Windham Hospital joined forces with Hartford Hospital, the State Department of Public Health, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, WISEWOMAN, Women’s Health Connecticut and the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program on Oct. 15 for the Women’s Wellness Day at the hospital. The event included on-site mammograms onboard the Hartford HealthCare Mobile Mammography Coach and other screenings in Windham Women’s Health Center.

Go Red for Heart Health

More than 75 guests received free health screenings including cholesterol, blood glucose, bone density, blood pressure and strength and balance during Windham Hospital’s Go Red for Women Event on Feb. 12.

Lifesaving Screenings

The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at Windham Hospital teamed up with Backus Hospital and local providers during Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week in April to offer free head and neck cancer screenings to community members.  During the events 79 screenings were performed, with 17 people being sent for follow up.
