Windham Auxiliary Report

The Auxiliary to Windham Hospital has been committed to supporting Windham Hospital since 1933. Their many fundraising events continue to benefit patient care and services.

In FY 2018 the Auxiliary donated $27,315 which included $10,500 for the purchase of a new IV pumps, used by the Hospital’s Paramedic Intercept Program. By providing these funds for the purchase of these important pieces of equipment, they continue to show the ongoing commitment of the Auxiliary, to ensure community members are cared for in emergency situations by such highly trained and skilled professionals.

The Anne L. Card Memorial Scholarship is named in honor of the late Anne L. Card who was a 50-plus year member of the Auxiliary and a dedicated volunteer at the hospital. In June, the Auxiliary awarded $1000 to area high school graduate Sydney Brierley who will be attending Emory Oxford College and majoring in Biology with a pre-med track. In 2018 the scholarship was opened up to include Windham Hospital staff members who are seeking a degree in a health-related field. The first staff scholarship was awarded to Kevin Howe a 19 year employee of Windham Hospital who is pursuing his nursing degree at Goodwin College.

Fundraisers held in FY17 included “Spirits and Friends at the Fitch House”, hosted by Mia and Glenn Mitoma, the Gala “Shangri-La”, the holiday bazaar, vendor and gift shop sales. In addition, the Art & Wellness program continues to be a success featuring local artists who displayed and sell their artwork providing a commission to the Auxiliary.
