In our second full year as the charter member of the Memorial Sloan Cancer Center’s Cancer Alliance, Windham Hospital’s Cancer Center, along with the four other centers inside the Hartford HealthCare Institute, offers oncology patients the world-renowned MSK standard of care and clinical trials in a community hospital setting. In 2015, Fred Bailey, PTA, MA, MBA, joined the East Region cancer services team as regional director of oncology and Lori Surber, RN, came aboard as nurse navigator.

The Windham Hospital Cancer Center received accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, meaning it offers access to a high standard of cancer care, close to home for patients.

In the battle against cancer, early detection is crucial. Along with providing cancer education at several events in 2015, Windham Hospital’s Cancer Center hosted a free head and neck cancer screening event on April 21 that resulted in three community members being referred for follow-up evaluation because of abnormal results.
