Auxiliary

For more than 80 years, the Auxiliary to Windham Hospital has fostered good will in the community, sponsored fund-raising events throughout the year, and volunteered in the Coffee and Gift Shops, and served the hospital in countless ways. In September of 2015, the Auxiliary presented their annual donation of $37,453.00 to the hospital.

Preparing the Health Care Leaders of Tomorrow

Each year the Anne L. Card Memorial Scholarship awards two $1,000 scholarships to area high school graduates seeking higher education in the health care field. The scholarship is named in honor of the late Anne L. Card who was a 50-plus year member of the Auxiliary and a dedicated volunteer at the hospital.

Volunteers Give More Than 13, 456 Hours of Service in 2015

In 2015, the volunteer team at Windham Hospital included 240 adult, University of Connecticut, Eastern Connecticut State University student and Junior Volunteers who contributed a total of 13,456 hours to the hospital. Volunteers serve a vital role in day-to-day operations of the hospital serving in areas such as patient transport, communications and material management. Students also participated in more than 750 hours of job shadow activity at the hospital.
